Volunteer Stories

Liz Mabey, Harpist

Liz Mabey started playing the harp at 8 years of age. As a student of ShruDeLi Ownbey she traveled extensively in building the Suzuki harp program in Boston, Rhode Island, and Austrailia. She took part in the Healing Harp's experiment at LDS Newborn Intensive Care Unit where they played a set program every day for a month and saw results in the music's ability to aid growth in newborns. She has played in Tacoma, Washington for the World Harp Congress as well. She continues her harp studies at the University of Utah.

"Playing my harp is very relaxing to me. I can tune everything out and just enjoy it. I'm glad I can do something I love and help other people at the same time."
